How to care for wave hair extensions?

how to care for wave hair extensions

Wave hair is created through heat styling, so as time goes on and with increased washing, the waves may gradually fade. This is especially true for our body wave hair, as it is designed to provide convenience for those who do not know how to use curling irons. It forms waves solely through heat without the use of chemical agents. Therefore, learning how to care for wave hair is particularly important. It is advisable for those who are knowledgeable about caring for wavy hair to make a purchase.

How to wash wave hair extensions?

1.Combing: Use a wide-tooth comb to comb your hair, avoiding using fine-tooth combs that can cause damage to the hair.
(Note: Do not vigorously comb your hair within 24 hours of installation to avoid disrupting the hair's waves and maintain them longer.)
2.Washing: Wash your hair with warm water. Hot water can strip the hair of its natural oils, which help maintain moisture and shine. Hot water can also damage the wave hair style. Wave hair requires gentle care, so opt for shampoos containing ingredients like biotin, eucalyptus oil, and soy, and avoid products with parabens, alcohol, and sulfates. Avoid rough scrubbing while washing to prevent hair breakage. Rinse thoroughly with warm or cold water. Residue on the hair can weigh it down and make it dirty quickly. Over time, chemical residues may also disrupt the waves.
(Note: Do not wash the hair extensions within 48-72 hours before or after installing wave hair. Avoid washing your hair too frequently in daily life, as excessive washing can strip the hair of essential oils, making it easier to lose its curl.)
3.Air-drying: After washing your hair, gently towel-dry or allow it to air dry. Avoid using a hairdryer, but if necessary, partially dry your hair before allowing it to air dry completely. Direct heat can lead to dry, frizzy hair.
4.Hair Care: When your hair is about 70% dry, take a small amount of curl defining cream, rub it evenly in your hands, and nourish the wavy parts of your hair using your palms and fingers. Choose styling creams or conditioners specifically formulated for permed hair to restore moisture and shine, keeping your hair smooth, prolonging the wave style, and preventing tangling. Avoid combing your hair after it has dried.
5.Weekly Treatment: Use a deep conditioning mask designed for permed or damaged hair once a week. The thicker texture of the mask can add moisture to the hair, helping to prevent damage, restore moisture, and shine. You can apply the mask in the shower or leave it on overnight with a shower cap on before washing it out in the morning.

How to prevent wave hair extensions from becoming dry and maintain its curl?

📌 Maintain Proper Moisture: Wave hair tends to be dry, so it's essential to keep it adequately moisturized. Use hydrating shampoos and conditioners, and regularly indulge in deep hydration treatments to help retain the hair's moisture.
📌 Avoid Overwashing: Excessive shampooing can strip the hair of its natural oils, leading to dryness and diminished waves. Reduce the frequency of washing, opt for gentle cleansing products, and avoid products containing hard water and sulfates.
📌 Avoid Excessive Heat Styling Tools: High-temperature styling tools can dry out the hair and reduce its elasticity, causing the waves to lose their definition. Be mindful of the temperature when using hairdryers, curling irons, or straighteners, and use heat protectant sprays or lotions to shield the hair.
📌 Regular Trimming: Regular trims can prevent split ends and damaged tips, helping the hair maintain its health and bounce, aiding in retaining the curl shape.
📌 Use Appropriate Hair Products: Choose styling products tailored for wave hair, such as styling gel, curl-enhancing sprays, or softening creams, to define and maintain the waves' shape. Avoid products containing alcohol as they can further dry out the waves.
📌 Avoid Over-Combing: Use a wide-tooth comb when detangling to prevent hair breakage or damage from excessive combing.
📌 Nightly Care: Cover your hair with a silk scarf or use silk pillowcases at night to minimize friction and tangling, aiding in preserving the waves' integrity.

By following these hair care methods, you can effectively prevent wave hair from becoming dry, maintain its wave pattern, and give it a healthy, shiny appearance.
