What should I do after receiving the hair topper for the first time?

Congratulations! You just purchased your first ever crown hair topper from Ugeat! Since you completed your online purchase, your hair piece has been through a lot, especially if you live internationally!

Read on to learn more about the journey your hair extension has made and proper first day hair extension home care.

Receiving your hair extension topper

When you receive your new hair, you will be able to simply take it out of the box, clip it in, and you will be ready to go!  

When your package arrives, it will likely be a little bit worn since it has just made a long journey.

First day care at home

When your hair extensions arrive in a box, they are typically tangle free and ready to wear. However, you can still take steps to make sure your hair piece looks its best whether it was shipped in a box.

When you receive it in the bag you will have to do something to regain the volume in your hair topper . Here are a few easy steps to take for your first day hair extension home care:

1. Make sure all clips are closed and carefully pin your hair piece on your Mannequin Head. This helps the piece maintain a natural shape while brushing your hair.
2. Dampen your extensions with a little bit of water and blow it out. Use heat protectant and a blow dryer to gently make sure your hair is not tangled and matted.
3. Make sure your hair piece is completely dry before using heated styling. Use low heat settings to avoid damaging your hair.
4. Last but not least, you can visit your hair stylist to have your topper cut in to blend perfectly with your haircut. Extra hair in your piece can make it heavier and less A quick, easy trim will solve all of those problems and have your hair looking stunning in no time.

Pro Tip: Real human hair extensions contain natural oil called sebum that helps make it soft and shiny. Since your volume or length extension is ‘made’ of human hair the extension itself can benefit from a small trim here and there to help it look and feel its best. Also, make sure to gently brush your hair a few times a day to spread the natural oils from your scalp down to your extensions.

Washing tips

You won't need to wash them every night or even every second night. Once or twice a week is fine.

If you are using products like clip in extensions or wire hair extensions that are easy to install and remove. It is okay to wash it once every two weeks or longer. The less often you wash your hair extensions, the longer they will last.

Detangle hair gently before washing. Comb your hair extensions with a spacious wired comb;

With warm water gently wet the extensions. Put shampoo (Light Color Shampoo No Purple Shampoo) with low or absolutely no sulfates on them.

Rinse out the shampoo. Apply conditioner. For tape in hair extensions, don't put conditioner on the tapes, which may cause the tapes to fall out easily. Once you've rinsed out the conditioner and they've dried, comb through the extensions so they're not tangled. You can leave the extensions out in the air to dry.

Don't Rub or Twist hair when you wash them. Crush straight hair in a downward motion starting with the ends, and work your way up to the roots. Hair may tangle if general care directions are not followed properly.

Storing Your Extensions

For hair toppers, you should also pay attention to how you store them. Most importantly, make sure your clips are 100% dry before putting them away. You can store your extensions in the bag in which they came. Keep the bag that holds your clips out of harm’s way, like in a closet or vanity is a great place.

When it’s time to put your extensions in again, simply give them a little styling and they’re ready to go.
